Richard Branson’s Innovative Supersonic Jet For 2020

English business magnate, investor, and philanthropist, Sir Richard Branson, proves to be an innovator with the launch of his brand’s first ever 40-seat supersonic jet.  The jet’s prototype (codenamed: Baby Boom) was initially unveiled during an exclusive event located at the Centennial Airport in Denver on November 2016.

With the joint collaboration of Boom Technology, Branson’s new supersonic jet is predicted to be the world’s fastest civil aircraft ever built.  The jet is planned to be able to travel from London to New York in only 3.5 hours, while Baby Boom was shown at the event, the complete 40-seat version is set to be launched by 2020.

“I have long been passionate about aerospace innovation and the development of high-speed commercial flights,” states Branson in a release. “As an innovator in the space, Virgin Galactic’s decision to work with Boom was an easy one. We’re excited to have an option on Boom’s first 10 airframes. Through Virgin Galactic’s manufacturing arm, The Spaceship Company, we will provide engineering and manufacturing services, along with flight test support and operations as part of our shared ambitions.”

In addition to the 40-seat supersonic jet, designated as XB-1, there is also the two passenger model outfitted with a 17-foot wingspan and is capable of reaching Mach 2.2, which is roughly 2.6 times faster than any other commercial jet made today.  Though the prices for flights from London to New York have yet to be announced, Virgin Galactic estimates the overall payment for a roundtrip ticket will be approximately $5,000 per person, with test flights beginning sometime later this year.

City of Hope X Just Drew

On May 8th, the Plaza Hotel became the spot for a truly spectacular pairing – Sponsored by Aston Martin and Lancôme A Charity Fundraiser Luncheon/Fashion Show came to the city with the Cancer Research Organization “City of Hope” and a Fashion Show brought to you by one of the hottest up and coming women’s clothing designers, Andrew Warren of “Just Drew.”

Conducted by City of Hope East End Chapter in coordination with Jeanne Kaye League held its annual Spirit of Life luncheon and fashion show. Attended by nearly 500 guests the event assisted in raising vital funds for City of Hope’s cancer research, treatment and education programs.

The Incredibly talented personal style bloggers Sophie & Charlotte Bickley of Ying 2 My Yang covered the Fashion portion of the event which included an award ceremony for Andrew Warren, along with Danielle Bernstein, Founder of We Wore What who jointly received the Champion of Hope Award this year presented by Claudia Oshry of Girl With No Job.

Mr. Warren went to great lengths to help raise maximum awarness for City of Hope this year through bringing together the next generation of social influencers to donate their time and walk in the Just Drew Fashion Show, the outfits of which were sold with proceeds going to the City of Hope foundation.

Sophie & Charlotte Bickley: Tell us more about your relationship with “City of Hope,” how did you first get involved with the organization?

Andrew Warren: “Lisa Kaye Fuld, the East End Chapter President reached out to me and explained that The City of Hope wanted to bring awareness about the importance of not only their organization, but being philanthropic in general to our generation. My grandfather passed away due to colon cancer before I ever had the chance to meet him, I learned at a very young age what it meant to be affected by cancer. The City of Hope is a massive organization that helps families and their loved ones treat, cope and learn about the disease they or their loved ones are fighting. When Lisa approached me about being a part of this event I instantly knew I had to be.”

S&C B: What was the inspiration for the revamped Just Drew line?

AW: “In the past I have been criticized for only dressing one type of girl. I wanted this show prove that my brand is for all types of girls no matter their style. My goal is to have a line that is for everyone, that all girls can feel confident in. My Spring collection is full of looks that just about any girl can pull off, the short slip dress has proven to be one of the most versatile pieces, even though it is also one of the simplest. I have seen girls dress it up with heels and wear it to dinner or dress it down with sneakers and a bomber to shop around SoHo in. The possibilities are endless, the piece doesn’t limit itself to one ‘type’ of girl.”

S&C B: What is your creative process like when developing a new line?

AW: “When I am designing a new line, I like to first go down to the garmet district and look at fabrics. For me it’s all about the vision, and in order to bring a vision into reality fabric is the first step. After I have my fabric picked out I pull inspo from all over, make some sketch’s, narrow down the fabrics and then put the pieces into production. Since JustDrew manufactures all of our clothing right here in NYC, I am able to see each piece go through production and I often make last minute changes during the final steps.”

S&C B: What are some of your favorite things about working with City of Hope?

AW: “I love doing charity work. I did something extremely similar to this luncheon for the Gabrielles Angel Foundation when I was only 14. Giving back has always been something I am passionate about doing, especially because of my grandfather. Over the years I have met some of my very closest friends through charity events and organizations. I loved working with the City of Hope, especially because as I mentioned earlier the causes they support hit close to home and being able to help such a great charity raise money and awareness.”

S&C B: What is one thing you would like everyone to know the Just Drew line for?

AW: “I want to my line to be unique while still being completely wearable. Philip Plein is a designer who went against the fashion world and he’s really successful now, He’s someone who really inspires me. I want my designs to resemble pure glamour while exuding confidence but maintain their “wear-ability”. I want my line to be a household name within 5 years, starting a clothing line is a lot more work than most people realize. These past years have been full of ups and downs each teaching me a new lesson; at the end of the day I want Just Drew to be a line, within which, each and every girl can find a piece she truly resonates with and feels absolutely perfect in.”

The Newly Redesigned & Enhanced BMW 5 Series

The German luxury vehicle, motorcycle, and engine manufacturing company, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, also known by its abbreviated name, BMW, has slightly reconfigured their superlative BMW 5 Series for the 2017 model year with new enhanced performance capabilities.  The BMW 5 Series has been an extremely popular vehicle since it began production in 1972, and has continued to be an all-time-favorite for BMW with it taking up 20% of the automakers U.S. sale.

Updates for the BMW 5 Series includes heightened character lines that give the car a fiercer appearance, modified lowered air intakes, and new headlights linked together to an evolved kidney grill equipped with streamlined shutters.  The car is also an extended version of the prior seventh generation midsize sedan, which is partially the result of a new chassis that took off 137 pounds, whilst boosting handling and performance.  Ludwig Willisch, head of BMW Group Region Americas says “It’s still the benchmark for agility, fun to drive, and there’s a lot of technology.”

At first BMW’s 2017 5 Series was released in two separate versions, one a 335 hp 540i model priced at $56,450 and the other a 248 hp 530i with a price of $51,200.  But this Spring lineup features a much larger selection, which includes the 530e iPerformance (priced at $52,395), a plug-in hybrid that is coupled with an electric motor and a 2-litre, 4-cylinder engine.  As well as the M550i xDrive (priced at $73,095), motored by a 4.4-litre turbo-charged V-8 and generates up to 456 hp.

Each of the 2017 5 Series models contain a new touchscreen added on top of the center dashboard, the touchscreen also has the $190 Gesture Control preference that enables the user to handle the stereo volume as well as several other actions by creating certain hand gestures before the screen.  Another key function of the new 5 Series is that all its models posses the latest version of iDrive: a feature that supplies swifter and better augmented navigation & assimilation with Amazon Alexa.  This allows you the option of voice command where your able to tell Alexa to either turn on the heat or air-conditioning settings, or check on your fuel range for a forthcoming excursion.

Benetti’s Ultra Innovative Creation: Motoryacht Skyler

Benetti’s M/Y Skyler is truly ground breaking in more than one dimension.  The 38 meter vessel is the third unit in Benetti’s innovative ‘Fast Range’ and is equipped with an ultra modern Rolls Royce Azipull Carbon 65 Propulsion system powered by two 2,636hp diesel engines that allows Skyler capable of a top speed of 22 knots, and a cruising speed of 17.5 knots.

Skyler’s vibrant exterior lines are the work of Stefano Righini who designed the Fast Range with extensive use of horizontal windows to allow for a sharper and more modern edge.  Constructed of ultra lightweight materials (composite and carbon) at Benetti’s Viareggio shipyard, Skyler features a four deck layount offering 5 luxurious cabins, with interior design by the famed Redman Whitley Dixon design studio.  The owner, selected the Air interior design configuration for M/Y Skyler (one of three options for the “Fast Range”). In addition, the owner requested several custom elements to exantuate Skyler’s brilliant interior design which includes furniture from Sutherland, Glyn Peter Machin, Minotti and Meridiani.

Benetti’s in-house design team in partnership with Redman Whitley Dixon have created a truly marvelous understated interior featuring extensive use of simple materials, which breath natural elegance in examples like the yacht’s selection of wood work that is crafted of glossy ebony, Thai wood and Tanganyika frisé wood.  Luxurious appointments continue through the walls and ceilings with a wide variety of leather hides.  The owner also made the feel of the materials used to construct the interior an ultra high priority in so insuring that every touch of the interior provides a pleasant tactile sensation.

When entering the main deck you immediately encounter a showcase of luxurious living space with massive windows allowing for significant levels of light to broadcast across the main saloon and dinning room.  In addition, the huge floor to ceiling windows give a seamless blend of indoor and exterior space.  Located forward across the main deck is the full beam owner’s stateroom made up of two balconies, two closets with a large dressing area, two bathrooms one with a shower and one with a bathtub.

From the start of its production line, the Jaguar F-Type series had become an iconic vehicle for automobile enthusiasts and car collectors alike.  Nevertheless, Jaguar has endeavored to continue the F-Type’s development, which is further demonstrated with their newly augmented 2018 F-Type lineup at the New York International Auto Show.  The new lineup features a total of 24 variants, including a state-of-the-art turbocharged, 4 cylinder entry adaption as well as a limited 400 Sport special edition.  Other unique specifications encompass boosted tech features and a restored front-end with full-LED headlights.

The interior of these superlative F-Types, boasting chrome & aluminum trim, bear lightweight seats in Sport and Performance options.  And introduces jaguar’s pad-oriented InControl Touch Pro advertorial system that provides weather reports, real-time traffic functions, and Fuel Finder: a feature that calculates the distance with the driver’s destination and the remaining fuel in the tank, then reports whether or not the fuel is sufficient for the targeted distance of travel.  In addition, the new F-Type lineup offers assistance functions such as a semi-automated park-assist and an emergency braking system.

In order to visualize a more apparent differentiation from all the previous F-Type series’ releases, Jaguar designers constructed four model-distinctive front bumpers and air intakes.  Where these air intakes were devised with greater apertures than the prior double “shark gill” intakes, and that incorporate a lozenge mesh style.  The release for the 2018 F-Type lineup is set for later this year and will be having its starting prices range from $59,900 to $125,000.
