Unlike a sports car that you can park almost anywhere, finding a suitable marina to fit your yacht isn’t as easy as finding a car park. 262 Foot M/Y EXCELLENCE Available for Charter in the Mediterranean for the First Time

At 262 Feet (80 Meters), The Abeking & Rasmussen built Excellence which stands out in a crowd of even the most impressive charter yachts. With a modern exterior conceived by Andrew Winch, Excellence is sleek and imposing. Having just enjoyed an inaugural cruising season in the Caribbean, Excellence has now been made available by Burgess Yachts for summer charter bookings in the Mediterranean for the first time ever.

At just over 2,100 gross tons, Excellence offers charter accommodations for up to 12 guests in 7 luxurious staterooms and abundant amenities to rival the finest charters in her class. One such amenity is the yacht’s ample natural lighting delivered via Excellence’s triple height glass atrium. Standing as just one example of Winch’s innovative design language, the glass atrium is one of the vessel’s most distinctive features. Excellence’s exceptional design and thoughtful details are the result of an experienced owner, whose knowledge was refined through the ownership of nearly half a dozen yacht’s prior to the conception of Excellence. Aboard small details are understated, yet completely refined.

Some of our favorite aspects of Excellence are the interior colors and textures, which allow guests to enjoy sophisticated spaces that remain focused on bringing in panoramic views. Spacious rooms stay soft and cosy thanks to warm design materials, such as a unique pallette of exotique woods. Birds eye maple, blue ombre, burr, limed oak, and sycamore pair stunningly well with other elegant finishes crafted from marble and fine leather. Winch’s signature use of mild tones combined with strokes of color here and there bring Excellence’s interior to life.

The vessel’s main deck is made up of entertaining spaces, guest accommodation and a suite of unique amenities. A lounge and dining area open up to an ample exterior space with a large pool and swim up bar. Six guest staterooms on this level are comfortable in size and offer views through massive windows. For a perfect start to your day the main deck features a gym and spa, as well as a tiered cinema where many guests may choose to end their day. From the main deck’s large foyer, a staircase and glass elevator can be accessed to transverse the yacht’s many decks.

Excellence’s upper deck is where amenities shine brightest. The whole of the upper deck has been designed as a very spacious private master suite with lounge, private terrace plus Jacuzzi, and sunbathing areas.

Located above the upper deck is a massive sun deck with an elegant sitting area and dedicated sunbathing spaces accompanied by a large Jacuzzi. From here a short trip can be taken to the lower deck where guests can enjoy a swim in the sea thanks to Excellence’s fantastic beach club, which features a sea terrace with bathing steps for easy access to the water. Aside from a wide selection of water toys, the yacht also benefits from two exquisite limo tenders made by Hodgdon.

As of the publishing of this article, Excellence is available for summer charter from €1,040,000 per week.

What to Look for in a Luxury Private Mooring Service

For people who are new to sailing, there’s a lot to learn. For example, when you sail into new waters on a luxury yacht, you cannot dock anywhere you like — especially in big cities like Seattle. Unlike a sports car that you can park almost anywhere, finding a suitable marina to fit your yacht isn’t as easy as finding a car park.

Theoretically, boats are allowed to moor along towpaths, but it depends on the size of the ship. For instance, superyachts need special accommodations and mooring requirements that require a private facility.

According to Emerald Landing, there are several things you need to consider when looking for a  private mooring service for your superyacht. Here are the top 6 you need to be on the lookout for:

  1. Tide and current. Both the tide and current can endanger the ship while maneuvering toward the slip or while moored. The harbor tides could be huge (referring to the gravitational effects of the ocean) and residual (which is computed as the difference between the water level at the harbor and the astronomical tide).
  1. Capacity. Another thing to look for is the capability of the facility to accommodate the size of the vessel. Most yachts range from 40 feet (any ship smaller than that is usually called a cabin cruiser) to 100 feet. Superyachts can be as long as 500 feet in length, although the average is around 150 feet or so.
  1. Security. The private mooring facility should be secured 24/7 to ensure that your belongings and state-of-the-art equipment inside the vessel are safe. Knowing your things are secure will allow you to enjoy your stay in a luxurious hotel or villa while your yacht is being serviced. Among the typical solutions are a no-climb fence, controlled gate access, CCTVs, and private security. The security camera can be integrated with your yacht’s onboard security system.
  1. Private. For some people, their privacy is sacred. If you want to arrive in a city incognito, you will need to look for off-street parking for you and your staff. You will also need private access directly to your yacht, so that you can go in and out anytime you like without being seen.
  1. Electric power. While moored, you can recharge your batteries at the electrical power outlets at the dock. Each vessel requires different capacities, so you want to make sure yours are included. You want a 60 Hz 480 volt 3-phase outlet with different connections ranging from 100 up to 400 amps. However, some vessels require single-phase power at 120 or 240 volts at 30 and 50 amps.
  1. Maintenance crew. A full-service private berthing facility would not be complete without a maintenance staff to look over every inch of your vessel. When you sail, you do not usually bring in your own pit crew; you outsource the job when you are moored on a trip. It is simply more convenient that way.

Whether you are in town for a visit or you need to have your ship maintained and repaired in preparation for your next destination, you will benefit from docking in a private facility.  You can sail in and out without anyone noticing you, which is fantastic if you want to preserve your anonymity.

The Legendary 105 Meter Lady Moura Now Available For Sale For The First Time

An Icon, a Legend, the 105 meter (344 ft) Blohm & Voss Lady Moura is many things. She is grand, she is imposing, she is the definition of a floating villa, but most of all she is arguably the best cared for yacht in the world.

The story of Lady Moura begins in the 1980s when a successful businessman decided that he would like to build a refuge for his family. Although Lady Moura was the ninth largest yacht at the time of her launch, few if any yachts comparable to her existed. As such, the Lady Moura along with Nabila (now Kingdom 5kr) and Corintha VI inspired many of the yachts we see today. At nearly 6,500 tonnes, Lady Moura’s volume is immense offering over 2,600 square meters (27,000+ sqft) of private chambers for guests and owner alike. Within, amenities that put most yachts to shame and a superfluous interior by the Italian-born Luigi Sturchio.

Now available for sale with Camper & Nicholsons by the original owner for the first time, Lady Moura represents the most impressive offering of any yacht currently available on the brokerage market. Maintained to the highest standards by her crew headed by Captain Matthias Bosse, Lady Moura served solely as a family residence, never being used for charter.

Stepping aboard the Lady Moura is an experience in and of itself. The yacht’s general arrangement is laid out in an impressive fashion; when boarding aft via a staircase from the lower deck you are ushered to an intimate outdoor sitting area, and when moving forward into the vessel you are instantly greeted by an impressive space, the main saloon. Serving as the principal formal reception room, the main saloon is vast with several separate sitting areas highly decorated with dark wood paneling and elegant marble details. The space is inherently Italian in design, yet boasting elegant, muted arabesque details. The main saloon is fitted with an elegant piano and original furnishings, something of a theme that is found throughout Lady Moura.

Moving forward on the main deck past the main saloon is a dark wood paneled walkway with simple, yet supremely elegant arabesque details on the wood and gold railings and light fixtures. The walkway leads to the yacht’s main deck lobby, which features an impressive staircase crafted of light toned wood stretching 5 levels from the lower deck to the top deck. For those that would like to save energy for swimming, there is a nearby elevator. Continuing forward past the lobby is a vestibule which offers direct access to a grand wood paneled dining room for 24 complete with Egyptian murals, a spacious office, and a wing containing four guest staterooms and one full beam VIP stateroom. The VIP Stateroom is a particular highlight as its ample size allows for two sitting areas, a dining area, office area, and a generously portioned walk-in closet and bathroom.

Located adjacent to the central stairwell on the lower deck is Lady Moura’s main reception lobby with sitting area and direct access to tender transport. Aft of this area is the yacht’s beach club with amenities that include a bar, sitting room and dining area. The décor of the beach club is supremely casual, yet entirely chic; although the décor is now 30 years old, it is perfectly modern and fresh. Specific highlights of this full beam beach club are the fold down platforms located at each side of the space. The swim platforms are expansive in size and space, perfectly suited for al fresco dining; and due to their high positioning, they resist small waves and swells, that would otherwise soak your feet. The swim platforms contain stairs and diving boards for easy access to the sea.

Last, but certainly not least, is Lady Moura’s cinema located aft of the beach club. Here guests can recline in a glamorous space furnished with small sofas, a hallmark of Luigi Sturchio’s onboard cinemas. Most impressive of all is the fact that the cinema can be converted to a disco complete with a dance floor.

Situated above Lady Moura’s main deck is a level devoted entirely to private family staterooms. Forward of the lobby is a wing of six spacious staterooms, all featuring expansive closets and private marble en suites. Aft of the lobby is the massive owner’s stateroom complete with two bedrooms, two large walk-in wardrobes, two plush marble bathrooms, a spacious office, as well as a private terrace aft.

Lady Moura’s bridge deck offers a combination of ample family and technical space. A pilot house along with accommodation for the first officer, chief engineer and captain occupy a third of this deck. Located off of the grand staircase’s lobby forward is a children’s playroom and a large office with a sitting area. Aft of the lobby is an impressive lounge where the owner and his family spent a great deal of their time on-board. Here in the family room there are abundant sitting areas, bookcases, and a dining area. Aft of the family room is a well-proportioned outdoor area with access to the wraparound deck.

A true highlight of the Lady Moura is her top deck, here aft of the lobby is a very large helipad, whereas forward is an in-door swimming pool. A retractable ceiling allows for guests to enjoy the beauty of open air while also enjoying the comforts an indoor pool has to offer. The top deck boasts a large spa and gym as well as a forward terrace for sunbathing.

Lady Moura’s crew and technical spaces are vast and provide a commercial level of sensibility often not found on yachts. Two large tender garages enable the possibility of carrying up to four tenders, each of which may exceed 30 feet in length. Separate crew and guest kitchens and laundry rooms are an impressive amenity along with the yacht’s own bakery. With the capability of accommodating up to 72 crew and staff compared to just 26 guests, Lady Moura offers a fantastic crew to guest ratio allowing for the highest levels of service.

Although Lady Moura has not traveled much, clocking just over 10,000 hours in her 30 years, she boasts the capability of traversing over 8,000 nautical miles at 17 knots. Stretching a further two levels beneath the lower deck, Lady Moura is capable of storing provisions for months of non-stop cruising. The vessel’s on-board medical facility coupled alongside her remote monitoring system for real time troubleshooting and support make her the ideal yacht for extended cruising with these highly desirable safety features.

Lady Moura is currently listed for sale with price available upon application. Though the yacht’s value has been estimated to be in the region of 200 million euros.

Feadship Launches the 99.95 Metre MY Moonrise

At just shy of 100 metres, the Moonrise with her sleek lines and massive 15.5 metre beam stands as a testament to Feadship’s devotion to craftsmanship. Unveiled on the 7th of this month in Makkum, the Netherlands, Moonrise is characterized by her blend of sleek lines and modern sharp profile. Designed by Studio De Voogt, stand out elements include an aluminum ‘superstructure [which] is entirely clad in glass’ and a contrasting silver colored steel hull paired with elongated windows.

Substantial in presence, Moonrise’s impressive volume provides ample interior living spaces capable of accommodating sixteen persons in eight luxurious staterooms. The sophisticated modern, yet minimalist interior design by Rémi Tessier is described as “instantly welcoming,” and the vessel’s high ceilings make transitions between indoor and outdoor areas perfectly seamless. A stand out amenity is Moonrise’s impressive aft beach club, which includes a gym and wellness center. A highly spec’d crew area accommodates up to 32 crew in spaces flooded with natural light, a rarity in most yachts. Lastly, a helipad situated on the fore-deck makes for the ultimate addition in safety and convenience.

Moonrise is propelled by twin MTU engines that allow for a top speed of just under 20 knots and a cruising speed of 16 knots. Quantum stabilisers make for a smooth ride, though owner and guests will benefit from the yacht’s advanced naval architecture and engineering which ensures an exceptionally quiet cruising experience. Feadship even boasts the fact that Moonrise has exceeded “even Feadship’s legendary standards of noise and vibration attenuation.” This is in part due to the fact that the yacht’s propeller and appendages were designed to reduce noise levels underwater. Ultimately this reduces both the vessel’s interior sound levels and its environmental impact, in addition to increasing the range by reducing fuel consumption.

On the subject of environmental impact, Feadship has taken several key steps with Moonrise that include both the installation of Feadship’s proprietary generator exhaust cleaning system and main engine exhaust gas treatment. Energy aboard Moonrise is conserved through the use of unique technologies, such as the heat recovery system installed on the generators which allows for the jacuzzi’s water to be heated with less electricity than is typically required. Finally, an “ECO-certified system for dynamic positioning facilitates the most energy-saving generator use in this mode.”

Environmentally friendly features, a cutting edge design, and the latest in extended cruising and autonomy contribute to the fact that Moonrise is undeniably one of the most exciting recently launched super-yachts.

Svalbard is a wondrous archipelago of dramatic snow-drowned peaks and glaciers, of vast icefields and forbidding icebergs, an elemental place where the perpetual sunlight of summer carries a deeper kind of magic. Then spend a couple of days cruising and exploring the fjords of the Finnmark coast, passing the Svaerholdtklubben Bird Colony and the unbelievable rock formation of Finnkjerkja. Island paradise in Koh Samui

“A multi-island paradise awaits in Thailand. Secluded white-sand beaches, jungle-covered islands and ancient Thai traditions combine to offer a luxurious seven-day island escape that will indulge all the senses. Take two days to explore the Ang Thong National Park, which covers 42 islands. Over many centuries, the sea and weather have created peculiar-looking caves and cliffs names by locals for their distinguishing shapes, such as ‘Sleeping Cow,’ ‘Three Pillars,’ and ‘Chicken Island.’ This was also where part of the movie ‘The Beach’ was filmed. Dry evergreen forest covers the large islands of Koh Wua Talap, Ko Phaluai, and Ko Sam Sao and the Ang Thong Lady’s Slipper Orchid is an endemic species found only in this area. Next, travel to Koh See Koh Ha, meaning ‘Four Islands, Five Islands,’ where one island is hidden behind another. The islands are home to swifts, sought after for their nests, which are the main ingredient in birds’ nest soup. The birds and their nests are protected by Sea Gypsies, the only island inhabitants; their small wooden homes perch on rocky outcrops – much like nests themselves – and the gypsies are employed to guard the nests from poachers. Another stop on this experience is Koh Phangan, famous for its full moon parties at Haad Rin Beach, which feature electronic music and attract anywhere from 4,000 – 5,000 party-goers. On Koh Nang Yuan island, enjoy the newest attraction: inter-island ziplining. The last stop on the adventure is Koh Kong Nui for water sports, snorkeling and enjoying great Thai restaurants on Had Lad, Had Yao and Ao Chao Phao beaches.”

Feadship’s 93 Metre Masterpiece: Motor Yacht Lady S

Lady S is one of the most remarkable yachts launched by Feadship in recent years. After five years of design and construction, the 93 metre masterpiece is now characterized by her significant beam of 14.1 metres and unique balconies and wing stations. Lady S has undeniably ushered in a new generation of design language and luxury amenities.

Michael Leach Design worked closely with Lady S’s owner to achieve a modern, elegant, and ageless exterior. Feadship has described the Reymond Langton designed interior as reminiscent of a “beautiful and contemporary jewelry box”.  Searching the Earth for the most extraordinary materials, the owners and their Burgess Yachts’ selected team were uncompromising in their commitment to exceptional quality and craftsmanship.

During the launch of Lady S, the owners were quoted as saying “We want to thank Feadship director Jan-Bart Verkuyl and everyone at Feadship for taking us on an amazing journey.”

Stand out amenities aboard Lady S include four VIP staterooms with 8K televisions, a fully certified helipad, a two level IMAX cinema, and sports facilities that cater to the owner’s family’s diverse interests. Lady S offers her owner and guests the ability to play basketball, golf, volleyball, and even soccer.

Lady S is rumored to be owned by American businessman Daniel Snyder who is best known as the owner of the Washington Redskins. It was often stated that Mr. Snyder owned the former 68 metre Lady S, which was sold by Burgess last year.

5 Spectacular Explorer Yachts Currently For Sale

With a growing popularity due to mankind’s ever increasing desire to reach the most exotic locations on earth. Shipyards have been pushing the limit to create remarkable explorer yachts that are both luxurious and extraordinarily capable. Below we’ve assembled a list of some of the most spectacular explorer yachts currently available for acquisition today.

Back in the Mediterranean, after a five-month cruise to Antarctica, Planet Nine has redefined luxury exploration cruising.

Launched in May 2018, the 73.2 meter (240ft) Planet Nine anticipated the current fascination with off-the beaten-track, long distance cruising. Built for extreme conditions, her imposing profile by Tim Heywood is reminiscent of a military vessel. The interior layout is functional but as elegant as the exterior is rugged.

With safety and performance as well as comfort in mind, the hull and superstructure were built by the commercial shipyard Cantieri San Marco in La Spezia while The Italian Sea Group completed the build to luxury yacht standards.

Exploration is in Planet Nine’s DNA. She is Lloyd’s Register Ice Class 1D and can deal with sea ice up to 15 centimetres. She is equipped with dynamic positioning and zero speed stabilizers for comfort at anchor. Her commercially approved helideck, with an enclosed, below-deck hangar and refuelling facility, is accessed by a lifting platform for an eight-ton helicopter. The hangar allows Planet Nine to handle two aircraft at the same time.

The interior was designed by Tino Zervudachi (Mlinaric, Henry and Zervudachi) known for his use of colour and eclectic aesthetic. The yacht is elegant with stylistic flair yet has a cosy quality and does not feel over-designed. The interior and furniture were custom built by German luxury outfitter Fitz Interiors.

The Upper Deck houses the main indoor living area including a stunning Inside-Outside Salon, an Observation Lounge forward and a super-surround cinema with lounge beds. Business requirements have not been overlooked. A large meeting room/library with adjoining lounge is located on the Main Deck and there is a smaller private study on the Upper Deck.

Guest accommodations are spacious and sleep up to sixteen in eight staterooms including the full-beam Owner’s suite, a VIP on the Main Deck and another VIP with a private outside area on the Bridge Deck. An elevator serves all decks.

The Sundeck with Jacuzzi provides ample space for outside-living and “al fresco” dining. The teak panelled Beach Club is designed for use in hot and cold climates. The spa has a foldable bulwark which, when open, becomes a large sunbathing and lounging area on the sea. The spa is equipped with fitness equipment, a Hamman and a sauna.

Tenders include two high-performance 10m Rupert RIB tenders, one open and one limousine, a 6m Rupert crew boat and a rescue tender as well as personal water craft and an array of other water toys.

“Most owners only use their yachts in summer or warm-water winters. Planet Nine is one of the very few yachts that has been designed for summer and colder winter long-range cruising”, says broker Stuart Larsen, “She is ahead of the curve and exemplifies clients’ growing appetites for new destinations and adventure cruising”.

Planet Nine is currently listed for sale at €85,000,000 by Stuart Larsen. For more information on Planet Nine, please visit the listing on Mr. Larsen’s website.

Seized Super yacht from 1MDB Scandal Sold

The 300-foot yacht known as Equanimity was recently seized from financier Jho Low due to the global investigation occurring into the 1MDB scandal. As a result of the corruption scandal, in which billions of dollars were allegedly embezzled from a Malaysian state fund set up by Prime Minister Najib Razak, the reassessed items have been hard to resell. The most highlighted asset of these however, has been M/Y Equanimity. Jho Low, who is the most profiled figure linked to the scandal had previously owned the yacht, allegedly bought with $250 million dollars worth of stolen funds. Prior attempts to sell the yacht on part of the Malaysian government had first attempted to sell it by auction, but the association to the scandal downplayed the seriousness of the offers being given. In auction, it failed to even reach a price of $139 million.

However, recently the Malaysian government has come across a new buyer, and has agreed to sell it to Genting Malaysia for $126 million dollars, which is less than half the initial cost. Genting Malaysia is a premier leisure and entertainment resort, which has led many to question the buyer’s intentions with the yacht. The yacht luxuriously features a marble and gold leaf interior, a swimming pool, gym, 11 cabins, Turkish bath, cinema, beauty treatment suite, and a helipad!

This yacht is among many different assets that were allegedly spent illicitly with 1MDB funds. With it, includes artwork from Monet and Van Gogh, a rare 22-carat pink diamond necklace, and a see-through piano. Jho Low is a more than generous giver of gifts. It has been reported that Low had given the piano to supermodel Miranda Kerr. As well as a $3.2 million Picasso painting to Leonardo DiCaprio. Both celebrities have handed over their extravagant gifts to the authorities.

FB275, as the yacht is currently known, is said to include amenities such as, a gym, spa and cinema, as well as over 1,000 square metres of outdoor space spread across five decks. Thanks to the vessels 345,000 litre fuel tanks, she is capable of cruising 6,500 nautical miles at a speed of 14 knots without refueling. Over the past four months Benetti has stood out with the launch of the 107 metre FB277 and 104.8 metre FB272, now the FB275 takes center stage completing this epic giga yacht trilogy. Benetti’s three 100+ metre launches is new ground for Italian shipyards who have produced few yachts in the 100 plus metre range in the past.

“The launch of FB275 marks the culmination of the first part of our Benetti Giga Season, yet at the same time, begins a new era of building giants. In the creation of these three sister yachts, we have proven that our huge investments and constant endeavor to progress has, and will, continue to pay off. I am delighted to be able to celebrate with the owners, colleagues and world’s press in this historic moment, and to give thanks to all those who contributed in the gargantuan effort to build these glorious yachts. I also offer the city of Livorno our sincere gratitude in its continuing support of all Benetti’s enterprises”. said Paolo Vitelli, President and Founder of Azimut Benetti Group.

Additional amenities of the FB275 include an observation lounge on the top deck with a circular sitting area featuring panoramic views; on the Bridge Deck, two L shaped sun pads surround a 1.5 metre fire-pit; located on the owners deck is a private living area consisting of a dinning room and seating area; the main deck benefits from the yacht’s 14.5 metre beam allowing for an impressive dinning area, seating area and swimming pool. On the yacht’s lower deck is a gymnasium and spa that benefit from a drop-down balcony that allows the owners and their guests to enjoy impressive sea views. The yacht’s interior was designed by Benetti’s talented in-house team.

FB275 is capable of carrying an astoundingly large collection of toys and tenders. The foredeck is capable of carrying two 14 metre tenders, while a 10 metre tender can be stored on the lower deck with up to 8 maxi jet skis. The yacht features a 1,500 litre refueling station for tenders as well as five cranes and two hydraulic lifts capable of lifting 15 ton tenders.

FB275 is powered by two 2880 kW MTU diesel engines that allow the yacht to achieve a top speed of 18.5 knots. Environmental considerations have also been taken into account thanks to an electric Schottel stern SPJ pump jet, which is said to provide ‘outstanding manoeuvrability’ and the ability to accomplish all electric short distance travel. The yacht’s stabilizer system, which was supplied by Naiad-dynamics, consists of four fins.
