An Elegant Scent: Floris London 71/72 For Turnbull & Asser

In 2015 fine clothier Turnbull & Asser began their initial collaboration with historic perfume maker and Jermyn Street neighbor, Floris, to create a scent that perfectly represented their brands elegant quintessential style.  Floris is the oldest independent family owned perfumer in the world.  Founded by Juan Famenias Floris in 1730 at 89 Jermyn Street (where they still stand today), Floris has catered scents to individuals such as Marilyn Monroe, HM King George IV and HM Queen Elizabeth II over their nearly 300 year history. With that said, it is no surprise why Turnbull & Asser commissioned Floris’s industry leading expertise in the creation of the 71/72 scent.  Owing the new scent’s name to the Turnbull & Asser boutique located at 71/72 Jermyn Street – London.

As soon as the new bespoke fragrance was offered for sale it nearly instantly captivated Turnbull & Asser’s devoted clientele.  In turn the demand soon exceeded their inventory.  Alast, on August 30^th  Turnbull & Asser will be offering a limited edition scent named 71/72 Eau De Parfum.  The scent is characterized by notes of mandarin, juniper, ground spice, warm oud, sandalwood, boisamber and frankincense; allowing for an elegant bespoke year round scent.  The 71/72 Eau De Parfum will retail online and in-store for $190 USD.

Gucci’s Fantastic Fragrance: Bloom

Italian luxury house Gucci has just released their new Spring Summer fragrance “Bloom”, which was developed by Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele.  The fragrance was inspired to serve as a representation of the modern woman, while  actress Dakota Johnson serves as the face of the campaign.  The release of this aromatic essence was given a commemorative celebration on May 2nd with a party taking place in New York.

Bloom consists of a mix of tuberose and jasmine, along with Rangoon Creeper (a rare flower native to South India) that for the first time ever is being used in a fragrance.  Michele, who has been the Creative Director of Gucci and is in charge of all of Gucci’s collections since 2015, collaborated alongside master perfumer Alberto Morillas in order to produce this exquisite fragrance of pure perfection.

The perfume will come in a prototypal, rectangular-sized bottle, festooned with a minimalistic black and white label as well as a blooming floral pattern that complements Gucci’s ready-to-wear collections.  Bloom is currently available to pre-order in a limited amount before it makes it’s official release, which will begin in August for the U.S. or Spring 2018 for Europe.

Celebrity Teeth Whitening Secrets

A pearly white smile is a staple requirement in the celeb world and we can’t say that we, ourselves, haven’t got hooked up. Obviously, unless you’ve been living under the rock you must have noticed teeth whitening kits promoted by the celebs all over Instagram – from Ashley Benson, Kylie Jenner, Scott Disick to many, many others who simply can’t hide their excitement about having a gorgeous smile. And we get it, we totally do. But, could they be faking it? The kits, we mean. Possibly. To our understanding, almost all of the glitterati are much rather turning to their orthodontists for teeth whitening and we may be finally on the key to scraping all of their amazing secrets!

We’ve picked up some fantastic inside info on teeth hygiene while talking to a few LA-based dentists with many A-list clientele.

From standard, decadent treatments (veneers) to DIY hacks you can do at home, we have the list, and we have it all!

So, shall we?

Put together your own stain-blasting formula

All you need is some baking soda and hydrogen peroxide (3% or less, which is safe for oral use); to be precise, mix 3 tsp of baking soda with 2 tsp of hydrogen peroxide and you are good to go. Once the paste is made, use it to brush away stains. A word of caution, though – don’t brush too hard, otherwise you may scrub away your enamel.

Straw things up

Well, even though beauty bloggers will advise against straws (as, apparently, they are adding to lines forming around the mouth), they may as well be your secret whitening weapon.

Dark foods and liquids such as coffee, red wine, tea and similar tend to stain teeth, which is why it is best to drink them by using a straw. Also, always brush your teeth or rinse after consuming dark liquids.

Apples, apples, apples

They aren’t called Heaven fruit for nothing! Apples are not only amazing for keeping your figure toned and digestive tract on point, but they are a perfect teeth-cleansing fruit, too! Eating an apple or two a day may add to teeth cleansing, and it removes stains.

Springing for a professional whitening treatment isn’t something to run away from as it isn’t that expensive at all, it’s medically tested, long-lasting, safe and it is done by professionals who know their job

In-office bleaching has become the quickest and most efficient whitening processes available — celebs have it on their schedule right along with coloring or cutting their hair. It can be done from once every couple of months to once a year, and can cost from $500 to $800, claimed by experts who’s been working with celebrities for years.  They also observed that teeth whitening is trending in Sydney as it is around the world, and that everyone who minds their smile should do it.

For those who want to splurge, veneers are the way to go (as in $800 to $2,000 per tooth).

Whitening may be about lipstick, too

For those who aren’t that into teeth whitening of any type but still want to have a smile worth talking about (in a positive manner, of course), wearing bright red lipstick will do the trick. The red will make your teeth pop and appear whiter than they are! A piece of advice: always choose blue-based lippies over orange-red tones, as “the former will create even more of a brightening optical illusion”.

Glamorous Makeup Looks for New Year’s Eve

The most glamorous night of them all is approaching – celebrating New Year’s Eve is always a nice occasion to show off your most glamorous looks. Since it only comes around once a year, nothing is forbidden. This applies to clothing, hairstyles, and, of course, makeup. New Year’s Eve is quite literally your time to shine, so you better stock up on sequined clothes and glittery makeup. In case you ran out of ideas, here are some of the best makeup styles for you to look as glamorous as possible while you are waiting for 2017 to come.

Sparkling cut crease

Cut crease technique is unavoidable when you want to achieve a dramatic look and there’s no better occasion for it than New Year’s’ Eve. Start by prepping your skin for makeup with high-quality skincare products, such are those from Alpha H collection. Once you’ve done this, prime your eyes with an eye primer and outline your crease and upper lash line with dark blue pencil. Create a cat-eye in the corner and blend it with a fluffy brush. Also, add a bit of dark blue shadow to intensify the colour. Grab a silver eyeshadow and apply a thick layer carefully so it doesn’t get onto the crease. Don’t forget about glitter pigment either! Apply eyeliner on upper lash line and put some mascara and false lashes if you like. Finish off with highlighting your brows. Since this is a really dramatic look, you’ll want to keep the rest of the makeup minimal – opt for a neutral lipstick and you’re good to go.

Shiny and romantic

This one’s a subtle yet glamorous look for the night of 31^st December and it starts by applying foundation and some highlighter on top of your cheeks to enhance your natural glow. A bonus tip for highlighting: add a dash of darker blush just below your cheekbone to create a more dramatic look. Fill in your brows subtly and then proceed to create a metallic eyes look. Base the whole lid with a concealer and then add copper eyeshadow on the inner and the outer corners of the lid. Put a thick layer of gold eye shadow in the middle and repeat until it blends with the corners. Traditionally, you would finish off with red lipstick but dare to be bold this year and consider adding beige gold lipstick to create a nice monochromatic look. Complete the look with a fine layer of mascara, et voilà – you’re ready to party.

Red lipstick classic

It’s amazing how a simple look with winged eyeliner and the right shade of lipstick can look glamorous. Of course, just because you won’t need many makeup products, it doesn’t mean it’s easy to get it right since winged eyeliner is a nightmare to most women. Our advice is to start early and be patient. After you prepped your skin and primed the eyes, grab your eyeliner and start drawing. To make it even more glamorous, add a fine line of glitter eyeliner next to the black eyeliner. Apply two coats of mascara and highlight the brows gently and your eye makeup is done. Proceed to the lips but be careful – red lipstick can bring out any inflammations you have on the skin, such as blemishes, veins, and capillaries, so you’ll want to create a smooth, even canvas with some fine liquid foundation formula. Finally, choose your shade of red lipstick, put it onto your pout and that’s it!

New York Fashion Week Hair & Makeup Trends

Fashion week graced the streets of New York this September. As much as we love to look at the new clothing styles to check out for 2017, taking note of the hair and makeup trends from the show can give us an insight into what is going to be a hot look this season. There were a variety of different looks lining the runway, but these are the hair and makeup trends which left us all gasping and admiring.

Wet Look Hair

The wet, combed, slicked-back hairstyle look took centre stage from Altuzarra and was hugely popular. As well as sweeping the hair back, Hood By Air covered the whole hair in gel, giving a wet and greasy effect.

Bleach Blonde

Alexander Wang boldly went for the bleach blonde look. Not afraid to turn redheads into blondes, Wang opted for a blonde look to accompany the new season of clothes.

Hair Accessories

There were a variety of different accompanying hair pieces for up-and-down hairstyles. From ballerina bun nets with an artistic twist (Ryan Roche, above), to a bright and bold, 90s-style bandana by Baja East. Monique Lhuillier also showed us that a simple black bow can add a classy effect to even a scraggly ponytail.

If bandanas and bows are not your thing, hairstylist Frank Rizzieri tried the unique option of using a belt as a hair accessory in a low ponytail.

Glitter Lips

DKNY brought the defining glitter lips to the runway. Pat McGrath created what she calls a “crescendo of glitter” on the lips of models, contrasted with minimal eye makeup for maximum impact.

Red Lips

In contrast to DKNY, bold red lips were another feature to be seen by many. While some artists modelled this with minimal eye makeup, bold eyes and bold lips together were also on show. Matte, fluorescent or orange tinged, red lips are a thing to be seen in the upcoming season and will soon be grabbed off the shelves of department stores.

Sexy Sweaty

To go with the wet hair look, makeup artist Tom Pecheux went for a look of “sweating gold”. The look was created by going over the skin with a subtle highlighter, then adding a very light and gentle touch of glitter. He finished by smudging eye pencil around the eyes, giving the sexy sweaty look.

Louis Vuitton Opens Their Doors To The World Of Fragrance

Louis Vuitton has been making high quality leather accessories and travel bags for over a century, but now the luxury fashion brand is going to try opening a few doors into the fragrance industry.  So Maison is putting his heart and soul into accomplishing beyond flawless aromas for the upcoming collection, labeled Les Parfums Louis Vuitton.

Louis Vuitton has even hired master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, who exclusively designed the seven following scents; Rose des Vents, Dans la Peau, Contre Moi, Turbulences, Mille Feux, Apogee, and Matiere Noire.  Belletrud used unique extraction techniques, so that the collection would feature only the purest of floral and leather.  The perfumes are already set to be issued in 100 to 200-ml sizes, and will be priced at $240 and $350 each, respectively.
