The Redesigned 63-metre Superyacht 11.11

When the original owner of Benetti hull FB265 abandoned the project 10 months before completion, a new owner stepped up and remodeled it to his liking.  The 63-metre superyacht “11.11”, named in honor of the owner’s daughter’s birthday as well as referenced as the “master number”, transitioned from an unfinished yacht in the making into a true gem of the sea.   When the current owner purchased 11.11 it was already two-thirds finished, all what was left was the interior design process; where the owner and his design team completely revised the interior layout to perfectly harmonize with both the yacht’s infrastructure and outer presence.

The Redesigned 63-metre Superyacht 11.11

As a result of the transom garage harboring a custom Benetti limo tender, which is the first ever built by Benetti, as well as an RIB in place of a beach club, the yacht’s top deck has become a place of unmitigated relaxation and leisure.  The living spaces throughout 11.11 were designed with a mindset towards comfort; the idea the owner wanted to express was to make 11.11 his home on the water, allowing for his family to enjoy themselves without any worry and relax in luxury.

The Redesigned 63-metre Superyacht 11.11

The art collection aboard has made an excellent addition to the overall atmosphere of 11.11, one such piece is a Tracey Emin neon with the words “Move Me” occupying a spot behind the bar in the upper saloon.  In addition, many other unique pieces are seen throughout the yacht, ranging from works by lighting effects artist Hans Kotter, “prolific” fashion photographer Helmut Newton, and wildlife photographer David Yarrow (who was famous for a method where he coated his camera casing in many scents to draw-in dangerous animals towards his camera lens).

The Redesigned 63-metre Superyacht 11.11

11.11‘s pool was originally intended to be located  forward where a seating area currently resides, though, when the current owner purchased 11.11 he requested it to be closer towards the stern, encircled by sunpads.  The project manager says, “The deck was completely redesigned, destroyed and rebuilt.”  Besides the pool, seating areas were added along with an Italian stone-clad bar and a gym was swapped out for another seating area with kitchenette.  The second spa/pool on 11.11 functions as a private area out of view from the bridge above, making it one of the most peaceful spots on board.  Although, the second spa/pool is located farther forward on the yacht, leaving the area feeling somewhat exposed, it still remains rather sheltered situated forward of the owner’s suite on the upper deck.

The Redesigned 63-metre Superyacht 11.11

The VIP suite is expansive to say the least, featuring a walk-in dressing room, a private study, and six great portrait windows.  As for the rest of the guest accommodations, which includes two twins and two doubles, that can be found on the lower deck extending off a central lobby. Each accommodation features a matching art deco style, along with Italian marble and Lalique taps in the bathrooms.

The Redesigned 63-metre Superyacht 11.11

The 63-metre superyacht runs like a dream with the captain, Vaughan Hill, reporting engine loading at only 65 percent when reaching a cruising speed of 15 knots.  The owner didn’t spend a large amount of time at the yard overseeing the yacht’s development, instead he relied on his design team, only making one inspection close to the completion of 11.11 to check up on the progress, yet it was perfect.

Little Luxuries You Can Treat Yourself with Every Day

Although silk sheets don’t necessarily count as a relevant parameter of someone’s success, they sure speak volumes of the person’s can-dos… as does their bank balance and that trip to New Caledonia. Don’t you just love the fact that the days of I-can’t-afford-this are gone and you finally get to enjoy the glitz of life in (almost) all of its sparkle? It’s refreshing, isn’t it; not having to worry about anything except making sure you’re the best possible version of yourself? We simply love it!

Suffice (it) to say that a girl of your caliber deserves the best of everything, all the time. No, it’s not because you’ve been that gold-fed, lazy, I-want-it-now spoiled daddy’s princess from the get go… but quite the opposite – it’s because you’ve made it happen yourself, and this is your moment to celebrate it.

Assuming you’re still getting used to the “unbearable” easiness of life, we’ll lay out a few ideas that’ll definitely help you enjoy the fruits of your work and see the wonderful side of life… you’ll get used to it in a blink, we promise!

Little Luxuries You Can Treat Yourself with Every Day

Luxury spa treatments

Regularly indulging in spa treatments is one of those fabulous things every girl should allow herself to enjoy; there’s nothing as relaxing as a weekly pampering session with your favorite masseuse and cosmetician. Just being there in the moment, with a glass of bubbly in one hand and Vogue or Marie Claire in the other, while a polite professional is doing your toenails is bliss. Or, lying on a massage table without a worry in the world… sure sounds like a perfect day in a week to have. Don’t you think?

Little Luxuries You Can Treat Yourself with Every Day

Egyptian cotton sheets

Not that there was anything wrong with your former bedding, but investing in a set of Egyptian cotton sheets will take you to heaven! With their quality craftsmanship, breathable fabrics, polished look and amazing design – these sheets sure are a game-changer. Granted, once you buy them you’ll probably find it impossible to get out of bed, but some pleasures are simply worth being late.

Little Luxuries You Can Treat Yourself with Every Day

Champagne Friday/Bloody Mary Sunday

Dressed in any of your favorite designer dresses, waiting for the girls to pop at your door and bring the finest Champagne to taste (hey, it’s not that we’ve got anything against tequila, but Champagne, after all, is the taste we’re after), you are once again ready to have a night of your life. Unlike those cheap outings from a few years back (okay, sure, those too did have their flair), this is the time to enjoy the finest queen-worthy quality alcohol and never again worry about the headaches the day after (we’ve all been there, it’s okay).

Saturdays are reserved for a brunch out with your parents or prospective clients, naturally. Often, these turn into a fun day of horse-riding, clay pigeon shooting, playing pool, a sudden limo road trip to the nearby city for what seem to be “the best pancakes in the state” … or whatever it is you feel like doing. Now, Sundays… Sundays are for your in-home Bloody Marys (we’ll take an extra shot of specially tailored vodka, please!), best friends, movies and chill. Delicious.

Little Luxuries You Can Treat Yourself with Every Day

Fly first class

Once you go first class, you never go back. And that’s the only argument that you need. Oh, and – once you switch from coach to first, make sure you go to as many destinations as possible. Traveling will enrich your soul, broaden your horizons, introduce you to new cultures, and help you meet some amazing people out there – especially when you have the money to cash in for all the extras like five-star hotels, Safari tours, helicopter rides, etc. It’s a blessing, really.

Little Luxuries You Can Treat Yourself with Every Day

Indulging in an at-home massage/facial/yoga class/whatever

Sometimes, the advantage of having resources to take proper care of yourself mean that, from time to time, you’ll allow yourself to be spoiled and lazy, guilt-free. And that’s fine. Organizing anything from an in-home yoga class, facials, massages, Henna tattooing with your girls, cooking classes, or anything else that you feel like doing is a blast! We encourage you to do it as often as possible.

Well, we’ve given you just a few ideas to think about – the rest is up to you. Whatever you do, program yourself to put your comfort first and enjoy all that you’ve been blessed with. Appreciation is the most important quality to nurture, don’t you ever forget it… yes, even when your diamond shoes blister.

Italy’s Jewel Lake: A Weekend at Lake Como

Immersed in the foothills of the North Italian Alps, lies Lake Como. Lake Como is one of Europe’s deepest lakes. The picturesque destination has been known for centuries to haven wealthy Romans, royalty, artists, poets, and celebrities. Lake Como also features many fine craftsmen who craft high-quality silk, leather products, and Italian jewelry.

Lake Como is an international marvel. Though it’s better known as a luxury retreat, the Italian sapphire village also has an eclectic local flair.

Weekend stay

Lake Como is one of those places where if you slept outside, you’d still be embracing luxury. The natural setting is luxurious in of itself and furthermore, priceless. However, since Lake Como is an elite destination for the world renown, the village offers an array of splendid villas.

Here are a few of Lake Como’s villas that echo luxury.

For an Old-World Feel: Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni

Situated right on the shoreline in Bellagio, the Grand Hotel was formerly a private residence of a Milanese family in the mid-1800’s. In true Neoclassical style, the villa features frescoes, coffered ceilings, gilded accents, marble staircases, and crystal chandeliers.

Consequently, the hotel was originally built as a residence. Therefore, each hotel room is structured a bit differently, and each has its own unique decor. After a long day of playing tennis and a trip to the spa, you can tuck into one of the hotel’s two restaurants.

For Those Who Love Ultra-Exclusive: Villa Sola Cabiati

Villa Sola Cabiati was built in the 16th century as a summer residence and eventually ended up in the hands of the Sola Cabiati family. The home is still owned by the noble family but was recently brought under the exclusive management of the Grand Hotel Tremezzo.

The most exclusive way to access the property is to rent out the entire Villa. That’s if you are willing to foot the $10,000 per night bill. This request cannot be filled over the hotel’s online booking, nor is it granted easily to inquiring guests. Management wishes to keep the villa as exclusive as possible just as if it had remained a private residence for the Italian elite.

For Modern Luxury: Il Sereno Hotel

Il Sereno is the newest darling of Lake Como with its ultra-modern luxury design created by Patricia Urquiola. Situated on the shores of Torno, you’re only a short boat ride away from Como, which is full of shops selling fine Italian jewelry and silk.

The hotel was built with an emphasis of natural materials, including local stone and wood. Each bedroom features floor-to-ceiling windows to maximize guests’ panoramic views of the lake. Downstairs, the main lobby terrace looks right out onto the lake. It’s a great place to rendezvous with a cocktail before heading to the hotel’s restaurant influenced by the fresh flavors of the handsome Michelin star Chef Andrea Berton.

Leisure

Not everyone will want to spend all their time wandering the cobbled streets of Lake Como’s towns. Hence, the plentiful activities you can partake in for both water and land.

Italy's Jewel Lake: A Weekend at Lake Como

On the Water

Most of all, Lake Como is one of the most treasured lakes in all of Europe. The sapphire blue waters truly embrace la dolce vita. The most noteworthy characteristic of Lake Como, is the villages respect for its history. Not just by preserving some of their most precious and centuries old villas and basilicas, but style as well. You’ll see a number of Como classic wooden boats gliding the waters. These antique classic boats are available for guided tours. Some of the top sights are George Clooney’s house and the villa where Casino Royale was filmed.

Hiking + Gardens

Since Lake Como is nestled in the mountains, there’s a variety of trails. Trails in the Lake Como region range from challenging to easy. The perfect hiking opportunity for visitors on a weekend getaway would be Spina Verde Park. Spina Verde is just over a 3 mile trail that leads to a 6th century Roman fort, named the Castel Baradello.

Especially relevant to the history of Lake Como is the flora and fauna. The Hotel Villa Cipressi is home to one of Lake Como’s most lush gardens. Though the hotel is reserved for guests, the garden is open to the public and is free to explore. Hotel Villa Cipressi’s botanic garden is centuries old, built in the 1400s.

Shopping

The towns dotting the shores of Lake Como are known for a variety of beautiful hand-crafted products including silk, cashmere, leather goods, and Italian jewelry. One of Lake Como’s famous, family owned silk businesses is Azalea Bellagio. Family owned since 1968. As a result, the style of Lake Como is original and charming with handcrafted silk and Italian jewelry.

Furthermore, Bellagio is the pearl of Lake Como and is the most popular center in the area. The narrow streets make it fun to walk through as you can peek inside the many shops. Almost everyone who visits Lake Como has the pearl of Lake Como on their list to see.

Provisions

Lastly, you can’t go to Lake Como and not experience the excellent dining scene. Don your new Italian jewelry or fine leather loafers and explore the exquisite flavors of the award winning restaurants of Lago di Como.

Mistral

Mistral is in the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni. Prepare your taste buds for an extraordinary gastronomical feast like guacamole ice cream, cuttlefish ink waffles, and nitrogen ice cream all led by Michelin-star chef Ettore Bocchia.

Albergo Ristorante Silvio

Lake Como is a freshwater lake, with lots of species of fish. For the freshest catch of the day, check out Albergo Ristorante Silvio. Each morning, the managers of Silvio, located on Bellagio, head out to the lake and catch the fish for that evening.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Lake Como is a very special destination. With a lush and beautiful lake scenery. Boasting Italian jewelry, silk, and other extravagant goods, this lake village will elate you in pure romance. Not very many will visit Lake Como, but once you experience the history, the ambience, the terrain, Lake Como will be carried in your memories forever.

Sweptail: The Ultimate Rolls-Royce

The new Rolls-Royce Sweptail had it’s unveiling on May 27th at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como, Italy.  This world-famous event has been home to competition grounds for classic and vintage cars alike since 1929, as well as the host to some of the most legendary concept cars to make their debut in the auto industry.  Demonstrating a sleek yet smart outer appearance and a ravishing interior design, the new one-off Rolls-Royce is the first factory-built custom coachwork to originate from the marque’s facility in Goodwood, England, in the last 70-years.  The Rolls-Royce Sweptail, which was ordered by a client residing close by Villa d’Este, is the end-result of a four year collaboration boasting fortuitous contours and inclusive sheet metal that were specifically designed to embody the Rolls Royce name.

The Rolls-Royce Sweptail

The Rolls-Royce Sweptail

From the car’s striking twin rounded headlights to an array of design details influenced by the client’s own personal preferences, the two-seat Rolls-Royce has been made into a-one-of-a-kind, unrivaled luxury vehicle.  Director of Design Giles Taylor developed Sweptail to be tailored explicitly towards the client, this is evidenced by the curvature of the stern that pays homage to the client’s love for classic and contemporary yachts.  In addition, the car features an immense grille (larger than any other current Rolls-Royce model) forged with solid aluminum and hand-polished till an illuminated, mirror like appearance emerged.

The Rolls-Royce Sweptail

The interior of the Rolls boasts a minimalistic approach due to concealing buttons and other controls from the eyes of the passenger and driver, in turn this offers the vehicle an exceptionally luxurious inner presence like no other.  Stretches of polished Macassar ebony & open-pore Paldao are featured throughout the cabin.  The back seats were swept out and in its place a middle wooden shelf heightened with a slim yet luminous glass lip was added.  Set up behind the coach doors you will find a pair of boxes with two custom-made attaché cases inside them, which can be opened with just a press of a button.  Encompassed by conflicting Moccasin and Dark Spice leather trim, the center console shelters a champagne holder along with two crystal flutes.

The Rolls-Royce Sweptail

“Sweptail is the automotive equivalent of Haute Couture,” comments Taylor at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “It is a Rolls-Royce designed and hand-tailored to fit a specific customer. This customer came to the House of Rolls-Royce with an idea, shared in the creative process where we advised him on his cloth, and then we tailored that cloth to him. You might say we cut the cloth for the suit of clothes that he will be judged by.”  Rolls-Royce has demonstrated their time-honored design process alongside innovative enhancements in the Sweptail, which may very well lead Rolls-Royce to a new era of car-making that has the raw, un-tapped potential of revolutionizing the auto-industry.

Their smart shorts include integrated textile sensors whose job is to monitor four major muscle groups (the quadriceps and hamstrings in both legs). They’re made of a special, UV-resistant elastic fabric that prevents fatigue by offering compression for muscle support and guarantees comfort thanks to the featured flat seam construction.

What do Myontec MBody shorts do? They monitor muscle balance (left/right and front/back), load, and ratio, as well as heart rate and cadence. All this data is fed to a special app, which users need to download on their mobile devices. The app then calculates the number of burned calories, together with the user’s speed and route – helping them to analyze their workout and improve it. The shorts offer real-time sports performance statistics that are relevant to any kind of sport.

Apart from muscle overload analysis, the smart wearable offers a range of training readiness options that are based on warm-up monitoring, sophisticated fatigue monitoring functionalities from the attached EMG, recovery & relaxation monitoring, technique feedback that aims to boost individual efficiency and balance, as well as a wide scope of analyses that help to prevent imbalance and injury.

What do athletes gain with MBody shorts? MBody tech gear collects and analyzes data in the training environment – and that’s a new way to monitor muscular performance. Feedback from the device shows what exactly is happening with muscles during training, how they behave under different conditions, and where the majority of muscle injuries occur.

All that real-time and post exercise analysis helps users to measure and analyze their performance with technique optimization in mind. Users can also gain a better control over the recovery process and detect problems in the muscular system (for instance, imbalances or deviations) before they begin to affect their performance.

Myontec sensor technology offers a complete performance analysis that brings plenty of value to training and coaching. The associated app allows users to see figures from past sessions and check their progress. They also gain access to the cloud-based Movescount service, where they can create training programs, maintain a training diary, and connect with other members of the MBody community.

While there are many wearables in 2017 that you should look forward to, if you are a sport-enthusiast, investing in Myontec MBody shorts may be the smartest move. Spoil yourself with this piece of super-luxurious yet super-practical equipment. The complete MBody setup is available now for €820 (about US$920).

Echo Show from Amazon: Your Gateway to Smarter Living

Anyone interested in making their home smarter will be setting their eyes now on the brand new Echo technology from Amazon called Show.

This sleek and elegant device was designed to bring all the best of Amazon’s Alexa together with a screen where users can access a host of convenient features. With the Echo Show, you’ll be able to stream photos and videos, make video calls, keep track of your to-do list, or even monitor the safety of your home.

By integrating the Echo Show with your home, you’ll build a smart home experience where you can fully control features such as light, thermostat, and security. The device includes powerful, Bluetooth-enabled speakers with Dolby processing that guarantee top quality sound, helping users to enjoy music streamed directly from Amazon, Pandora, Spotify, and other platforms.

But Echo Show also responds to spoken commands. Features such as noise cancellation, beam-forming technology, and a total of 8 microphones make it incredibly efficient in hearing sounds coming from all directions, even with music playing in the background. As you add features ranging from new apps and recipes to Uber drive orders, the device will continue to get even smarter.

Here are a couple of things you should know about Amazon’s Echo Show before deciding whether it’s something for you.

Single-user system

Amazon is faithful to its single-user system for Echo devices, and while Show has many improved functionalities (think taking calls or managing calendars), it still doesn’t allow users to connect with other Echo Shows or speakers.

But you can add multiple users to a single Echo, so when you receive a call through Alexa, all your devices will ring.

Alexa skills

Even if the seven-inch touchscreen makes the Echo Show look like a tablet, the device is far from it. It was built to run Alexa skills, so it’s impossible to install either Amazon’s own Fire OS apps or any products from the Google Play Store.

What about services like Netflix or Hulu? They might build skills to work with the device in the future, but don’t count on binging on your favorite shows right now.

Communication

The Echo Show can carry out voice calls and direct messages between other Echo devices and the Alexa app. The device is equipped with an extra feature called Drop In that allows users to list individuals who will be able to start a video chat on the Echo Show unannounced.

If someone Drops In on you, they’ll be presented with a “frosted-glass” view for 10 seconds before the video chat starts. That’s when you can reject the video or switch to an audio-only mode. Be careful gentlemen, don’t put just anyone on that list or you might regret it.

Available in sleek black or white design, the device is a great accessory to adorn your countertop. With the smart technology on the rise, there appear newer and newer devices that make your home smart. If you’re looking for an extraordinary, luxurious solution that combines speech recognition with innovative communication features, the Echo Show is a device for you.

The Echo Show ships from June 28 at the cost of $229.99.
