From the revival of Halston to his own celebrated design house, the Los Angeles designer has spent decades refining a vision of fashion built on impeccable tailoring, modern elegance and the art of dressing with confidence.
True glamour is rarely accidental. It comes from an understanding of proportion, movement and the details that make a garment feel extraordinary. For American designer Kevan Hall, these principles have defined a career spanning more than three decades.
Raised in Detroit, Hall discovered his passion for fashion at just seven years old. His early fascination developed into a lifelong pursuit of craftsmanship and refined design, eventually leading him to Los Angeles, where he studied at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

His defining early chapter came at Halston, where he served as design and creative director from 1998 to 2000. Revitalizing a house synonymous with American fashion required a delicate balance: preserving its legacy of effortless sophistication while giving it renewed relevance. Hall’s work helped establish the foundation for the aesthetic he would continue to develop under his own name.
Launched in 2001, the Kevan Hall Collection is distinguished by fluid silhouettes, precise tailoring and a distinctly modern interpretation of glamour. His designs have appeared on some of the world’s most recognizable women, including Michelle Obama, Celine Dion, Charlize Theron and Salma Hayek. Yet beyond the red carpet, Hall’s enduring strength lies in his ability to bring a sense of occasion to clothing without sacrificing wearability or individuality.
That sensibility continues to evolve. His Journey to Japan Fall/Winter 2025 collection explored traditional Japanese artistic techniques, including indigo dyeing and suminagashi, the art of marbling ink on water. By connecting textile artistry with his own design archive, Hall demonstrated that heritage can be a starting point for new creative expression rather than something to simply preserve.
His more recent work continues to explore color, texture and silhouette, reaffirming a design philosophy rooted in craftsmanship rather than fleeting trends.

For Carmel-by-the-Sea, Hall’s work now has a local presence. Halore, located in Carmel Plaza, carries a selection of his designs, bringing his sophisticated American aesthetic to the Monterey Peninsula. The assortment spans elegant dresses and distinctive separates, offering a glimpse into a designer whose work moves comfortably between understated refinement and expressive eveningwear.
In a fashion landscape often driven by the next trend, Hall’s career offers a different perspective. Great design is not simply about making a statement; it is about understanding what makes a woman feel assured, individual and beautifully dressed.
